Prospective Employers
Send Us a Current Employee
The Shidler MFE program at the University of Hawai'i is a rigorous one-year program that provides students with essential financial and risk managements skills drawn from the disciplines of Finance, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Your institution may consider sending us a promising employee in anticipation of getting him or her back on the job ‘fully loaded’ after just one year.
Hiring Our Students
The one-year MFE program concludes at the end of August, and interested employers can hire students beginning January 1st.
Student Internships
An excellent approach for deciding if a student is the right ‘fit’ for your organization is to check him or her out during an internship. Students are available for internships from mid-July until the end of August, and the hiring period is each semester from January 1st to the end of July.
Student Thesis at Work
Another way to work with Shidler MFE students is to cooperate with a student’s thesis, conducted in Summer 1 from mid-May until the end of June. Employers might ask a student to optimize the risk-adjusted return of a portfolio; or conduct market, credit, or operational risk management for a department or the company.
